Re: General Gaming News

There are rumours that Bethesda is being given a dedicated Fallout team and this is the reason for the cull. Not convinced it's true yet but there was a comment from Todd Howard last week that they're trying to increase their output for their core RPGs. If it is true then what a shitty way to go abo...

Re: Currently Playing

Just started playing Dragon's Dogma 2 yesterday. I wasn't a fan of the first game so I went in with doubts, but I'm really enjoying it after a few hours. The combat is great - it has a real physicality and flow to it that makes you feel like you're being more dynamic than you actually are. I'm still...

Re: Aaand, In Other News...

There have been seven Boeing whistleblowers since 2019, so two of them dying in the space of the month is... uh... totally normal. Nothing to see here!

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Little Shop Of Horrors Directors Cut Went to see it at the cinema. Its still a perfect movie in its DC form. Is that the version where the plants win at the end (i.e. as per the stage play)? I think it's included as an extra on the blu ray. I still prefer the happy ending, but I like how the darker...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Just had a weird experience. I was on the phone to my mum, having a catch-up, when the call went silent. This in itself isn’t especially unusual as the mast near me is a wreck (it’s been repeatedly vandalised), but what happened next was very odd. After five seconds or so of silence and me asking if...

Re: General Gaming News

People rightly make a big deal of concurrent players as they are a good guide but they are not a be-all and end-all as for one it doesn't include console. Also important to remember that many (probably most) people played Starfield on Gamepass. It's only weirdos like me who bought the damn thing th...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Maybe I'm just not remembering the games all that well, but I felt the show takes itself maybe a little too seriously, there's not as much humour as I would have expected. Conversely, I've seen people complaining that there's too much humour in it. They'll never win everyone. If you go back t...

Re: General Gaming News

Yes, BG3 is a far more successful and popular game, but the point is that the dropoff of Starfield players is not the death knell that the internet seems to have decided it is. It's pretty much the same trend line as BG3.

Re: General Gaming News

I wonder how those figures compare to something like BG3, which is a similar size for a single playthrough, because for a non-live service single player game I'd expect there to be that sort of downward curve and dropoff after release. For this sort of game, I'd play through it once at release for m...

Re: General Gaming News

It's hard to imagine anyone being that bothered about that :/ I think there will be plenty of people looking forward to it. Starfield is one of those games about which the agenda was set by the people who didn't like it and ignores the thousands of people who did like it. Because the general consen...

Re: General Gaming News

I’ve also had stuttering, as well as multiple crashes to desktop since the update. Had played for about 30 hours prior to update with none of those issues.

Re: General Gaming News

I don't think this patch is really aimed at people playing on PC, they seem to have focused mostly on console stuff from what I have seen. That's the most dismaying thing about it - they've bust a load of stuff on PC for little to no tangible benefit. They've added a smattering of Creation Club min...

Re: General Gaming News

It’s a proper mess, by most accounts. I’ve been playing Fallout 4 on PC for the last week and made sure that I didn’t use any mods that use the script extender because that has inevitably broken, along with all mods that depend on it. Nevertheless, the update has disabled the mods I was using. Thank...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Fallout One ep... I fooking loved the pre-bombs section. I thought that was really so well done. The rest is... well... it’s very faithful to the Bethesda feel. Honestly, it’s faithful to Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas too. Tim Cain gave it his stamp of approval, the showrunner has being playing them s...
