Re: Favourite Films

I only watched The Goonies for the first time about five years ago. It's fun, but I think maybe it's one you had to grow up with to properly appreciate.

I'd be up for a synced viewing of something, time permitting.

Re: GET TO DA CHOPPAH! The 80s actiontastic retro thread

\:D/ I may have an 80s action fest this bank holiday weekend. I really want to re-watch No Dead Heroes, a little known gem of utter woe that ticks every 80s action box imaginable. The issue is there are no rips available and it was never released on DVD, so I'll have to see if I've still got a VHS p...

Re: Favourite Films

Under Siege does not belong in the same thread as Casablanca or A Matter Of Life and Death. ¬_¬ "Who the fuck are you!?" "I'm the cook ..." I feel like we need an 80s action movie thread (allowing for films from other decades that embody the spirit of 80s action) where we can discuss the glory days...

I have faintest glimmer of hope that this could finally be it. He's starting to crack:

The calm and reasoned musings of the President, folks.

Re: Favourite Films

My favourite film of all time is A Few Good Men , mostly because I'm a sucker for Aaron Sorkin's writing and this is his finest work. As for what I think the best film of all time is (as in the most well-made film across the board), that's a much more difficult choice. Gladiator is certainly up ther...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

It’s occurred to me what’s wrong with Disenchantment: it has no heart. At all. The Simpsons and Futurama worked because the often dickish behaviour from characters was balanced out by the occasional emotional moment which showed who they really were. That Futurama episode with Fry’s dog still breaks...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Yeah, it’s not the best. I watched a whole bunch while off sick today and frankly I think I’d have been better off going to work. In 7 episodes I’ve laughed maybe twice, the plots are getting worse and the characters are bland as hell. Bean’s most interesting characteristic is that she’s a drunk. Th...

Re: The F1 thread

See, I wouldn't have said the same thing was true of Williams or Renault. Yeah, I just meant in the sense that past success is no guarantee of future success. To be fair to them, both teams have shown limited success in the last decade and even had brushes with being competitive. Neither of them sh...

Re: The F1 thread

True, that. See also Williams and Renault, although Ricciardo's move to Renault makes me wonder if they have a card up their sleeve for next year.

Re: The Food Thread

Tonight I'm tackling a 'Meat Feast' frozen pizza. The outer cardboard box and wrapper are carefully removed before the pizza is placed on a baking tray. Once the fan oven is heated to 180, the pizza is placed in the oven for about 20 minutes. Some BBQ sauce on the side elevates the dish. This is ab...

Re: The F1 thread

If he'd done one more season then he'd have beaten Barrichello's record for the most F1 starts, so maybe he was sticking it out for that. If he wins the Indy 500 and a competitive F1 seat becomes available in the next few years, I could see him returning. Seems unlikely given that Hamilton and Vette...

Re: Switch & Nintendo News/Discussion

He really is brilliant. I can't tell if he's intended to be taken completely seriously or whether he's purposefully so overblown as to be funny. I think I may have crossed a line when he beat the crap out of an orphanage custodian though. To be fair, she put up a decent fight and there was pre...
