Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Okay, the fine was only £50 in the end, so it could be worse...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I don't know, I liked the second half better. It felt tighter, like all the threads were coming to something. The first half often felt like some sort of Baz Luhrmann-style musical at times.

Re: Currently Playing

Playing a game called Kill the Crows, a 'weird west' arena-shooter. Pretty simple, but very fun, and at the time I bought it, it was less than £3 on Steam.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Gangs of New York First time I've seen this since the cinema visit in 2002. Wow, what a long time ago. At the time, I didn't know anything about history and I barely understood what was going on at all. With the benefit of twenty-three years' life experience and learning, I had a better grasp of th...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Got a letter through the post yesterday; a £100 FINE from that awful drive from Glasgow to Edinburgh to visit my grandma. What did I do wrong? When I got back to Edinburgh, I found myself accidentally in the exclusive bus lane...and I couldn't get back into the main line of traffic. I didn't deliber...

Re: Film analysis

I watched this at the recommendation of a colleague (I think?), many years ago...I can't exactly remember when. I gotta admit, it didn't really impress me. In fact, when watching the trailer just now, I barely remembered a single scene, so it didn't leave a big impression. Fun trivia, though: the fa...

I'm just staying inside with the windows open, grimacing from within my shadowed walls at the golden disc that bathes the earth outside with its horrid radiance.

The fact that Netflix is capped at 720p on Chrome, forcing me to use another browser (I'm using Edge, because it works at 1080p on that).

Also, Edge. That diabolical MSN news feed, which is mostly clickbait and (quite literally) fake news.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

It's such a good book; why can no-one make a decent film from it?

I think the main problem is, everyone tries to do some kind of twist or spin on the original, rather than just sticking with the Wells script.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Still sounds better than the orange fecking walk. It's just the same thing on a more local scale. Celebrating some centuries' old "achievement" (in the case of some of these wee towns it's something as simple as capturing a flag from the opposing army five centuries ago) and putting on some ribbons...

Dean Castle. A castle in Kilmarnock; very picturesque, set in beautiful and extensive grounds (Dean Castle Country Park), has lots of rooms to explore and a fantastic arms-and-armour collection on display...but best of all, it's FREE to the public, thanks to its former owner, Lord Howard de Walden, ...

Roundabouts. Specifically, the road system that connects Glasgow and Edinburgh. I took a trip today to visit my 101-year-old grandma in Troon (she's barely alive) and trying to figure out what lane of a roundabout you're supposed to be in at the last possible second before you realise you've taken t...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Common Ridings. What the hell are common ridings? This is a common riding . An annual event in a select number of Scottish border towns where the locals all wear rosettes, wave flags and walk through the bunting-draped streets, following after others riding on horses, in a hollow and cringe-worthy d...
