Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

How awful.

I have had no trouble in that department, but I must say I am mighty annoyed with how I am paying a subscription for Prime Video, but have to pay extra on top of that to get ads disabled and extra on top of that to watch most films and TV shows.

Extreme Prejudice A 80s film about a tough but emotionally stunted Texas Ranger, Jack (Nick Nolte), who takes a stand against his old high school friend, now Mexican drug lord, Cash (Powers Boothe). Cash is shipping drugs across the border, and both men share the same Mexican girlfriend, Sarita (Ma...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

BBC News wrote:Trump has previewed this as a "very important" and "amazing" announcement.
Yes, a "very important" lesson in how not to govern and "amazing" in its stupidity.

Autism is hereditary. My mother are father both are, and both my sisters are. My son is too. Paracetamol indeed. What an absolute joke.

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

As an autistic person, I'm not sure whether to be more dismayed by the laughable medical claims which are rightfully dismissed by medical science, or by the fact that Trump and RFK see autism as something that needs to be 'cured'. Same here, but I think Trump/RFK seeing it as something that needs t...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

Man, that reminds me of the tale of how 'hydrogen dioxide' has been present in the bodies of every serial killer in the United States in the 20th century. A colleague of mine told this to another (a man particularly prone to believing any old theory he read on the internet) some years ago and the gu...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I don't enjoy the Godfather films either, but I love Apocalypse Now and Dracula. I haven't seen any of his other work. I can however fault the dinner scene in the French house, which I believe was included in the director’s cut and final cut. What a complete waste of time that kills the film’s momen...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Apocalypse Now: The Final Cut All three hours. What a wild ride. I've watched this film several times; I think I've seen every cut. It has to be one of my favourite films of all time, and each time I watch it, I notice something more or gain some new insight. A masterpiece. The Final Cut has more m...

My work has beehives in the garden; they started with two, back in 2014, but now there's a dozen at least. They sell the honey in a gift shop inside. I've never bought any before, but I'm starting to think I should give it a try.

Marathons. Marathons in the city of Edinburgh, closing down the city centre with road closures left, right and centre, causing huge backlogs of cars choking up the streets filled with people who have places to go and people to see, just to accommodate a bunch of other people who want to run around....

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

The Gilded Age This is pretty much 'Downton Abbey in New York City', though set several decades earlier (1880s). Just finished the third season. Much like Downton, it's one of those "I would never, ever watch this alone, but it's a blast when watched with the wife!" shows. Great costumes, sets, and...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

What Dave says definitely touches on a big part of the issue for me. There's a deep sense of being owned by the collection , rather than owning it. It became for me a yoke of oppression and enslavement. I know that might sound overdramatic, but that is what it became for me, psychologically. Dave, I...
