Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

It's exactly this sort of thing that forces governments to introduce new, independent oversight measures, to stop the crooks gaming the system to their own advantage, and it's exactly that sort of thing that Trump's hiring people to do away with. Governments can't operate on the honour system, becau...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

Indeed. He has a history of screwing things up at a local government level; the whole Hyperloop scam (which was never likely to work) was basically designed to hold up San Francisco investing in a new public transport network so he could sell more Teslas.

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

So the big orange cretin has appointed the big rich cretin to the Department of Government Efficiency (it spells Doge! Like the meme !), which isn't at all surprising but ought to be terrifying as they're apparently going to finish their job within 18 months of starting. That's the sort of timescale...

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

Not gonna lie, I was considering at one point saying that Opus sneaks a little nibble on the Book of Exalted Deeds. Stop teaching the impressionable youth things! --- Opus is going to be pretty despondent after that last scry. Struggling to really process the news, he'll make several trips back to t...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

It's something of a recurring trend in Western politics at the moment, it's happening all over Europe too. People are unhappy, so they're voting for change, regardless of the bigger picture. It was always going to be easier for Trump to sell this than Biden / Harris because all he's done is incite a...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

I finished the first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End last night. I'm not really much of an anime watcher (I dabbled when I was a teenager, but I've probably not seen a new series in 20 years other than my long-running infatuation with the Gundam franchise because Giant Robots Good), but I th...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

Because I think all you can do at this point is enjoy a bit of schadenfreude, it's startling how similar the US election result feels to the days after the Brexit referendum. Tons of people going online to say how happy they are that Trump won, because he's going to disassemble that evil, communist ...

Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

It'd be nice to know what exactly the internal funding model was for Gamepass; do the devs receive a single fee or is it based on number of users that download it? I'll doubtless give it a go via Gamepass myself, but this is a style of game that often doesn't work for me. I never played previous gam...

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

Having obtained the Ring of Spell Storing, Fauxpus will spend a day attuning to it. The item description says that "When found, it contains 1d6 − 1 levels of stored spells chosen by the DM." I figure this is likely Jontu testing the ring by storing random spells before handing it over. I'd like Faux...

After examining the staff and giving the offer some consideration, he agrees that for the gold and the staff, you can purchase three +1 bows of your choosing and the Ring of Spell Storing. If you go for the more expensive longbows over the shortbows, he winces (presumably because he's getting a raw...

Opus Regarding Bytopia, where the tabaxi retreated to according to Ruby of the Long Sunset, you find some help at the Veiled Forum from High Conjurer Semetta, who has extensive knowledge of the planes. She tells you that Bytopia is one of the outer planes where goodwill permeates across a twin land...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

I dread to think what Musk being in government will mean. I did think that maybe being close to Trump in the White House would instil a desire to go for the job himself at a later point, but he's currently ineligible because he's not a natural-born US citizen. That's pretty enshrined in the constitu...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

If you replace ‘Jedi’ with ‘liberals’, this situation does read quite similar to Revenge of the Sith. I have, more than once in the last couple of months, mouthed the line "So this is how liberty dies; with thunderous applause" silently to myself. I unironically love that film, but it's impossible ...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Greetings cards. I hate these things. They feel like nothing more than a social obligation as otherwise it looks like you've forgotten, and they're just such a massive waste of money and resources. The few people I send them to I call on the day anyway, and they're both expensive and boring. It used...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

So does he throw Kiev to the dogs so we have to eat chicken Putingrad or does he make a big show of bartering a large portion of Ukraine away to be the peacemaker with a pacemaker? He's made comments before about "making a deal" with Putin, and that's his entire mindset. Everything can be fixed by ...
