Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Wormhole Xtreme was the 100th episode, and was a great concept. It comes back for the 200th episode, which is one of the funniest pieces of sci-fi I've ever seen.

Re: Aaand, In Other News...

Kurzgesagt is my favourite Youtube channel; they're excellent at breaking down fairly complicated scientific topics to at least give you a layman's view. They also occasionally answer important questions, such as what would happen if we fired all of Earth's nuclear ordnance at the moon. They have a ...

And if it is cloudy, maybe a transformer near you will explode and you'll have your spectacle there instead.

If you enjoy educating yourself via the medium of colourful cartoon birds; Kurzgesagt did a video on these a few years back.

Re: General Film News

Yeesh, it's not enough material to keep the prose interesting (though I've never much liked Tolkien's writing), nevermind what will undoubtedly be spun out as a three hour epic.

Re: General Film News

After how poor the Hobbit films were, I'm not sure why having Peter Jackson having another crack at it is such a big draw anyway. One of the reasons the The Lord of the Rings trilogy was incredible was because of how it was filmed, and I'm not sure that's even possible anymore in the current financi...

Re: Aaand, In Other News...

The Line is probably the most ridiculous of the projects, but it's only one of a number of them in the Neom region. Apparently what dictators in the middle east like to do is secure their legacy, to make their mark on the world, so people pitch completely unrealistic ideas to them without any number...

Re: General Gaming News

Yeah, I can't say I really see the obsession with AAA games. I suppose it probably just comes down to marketing. Better looking game = better looking trailers and screenshots = more sales, and better looking game = better reputation for the hardware. I have no issue with flagship games, tentpole-tit...

Re: General Gaming News

That's something I meant to bring up earlier. Prior to Redfall at least, Arkane's games have usually been critical successes, but have they ever really been commercial ones? I seem to remember Prey was heavily discounted soon after launch, and I'm not sure the Dishonoured games ever had mass appeal.

Re: General Gaming News

Exactly; the developers they've bought already will be looking to leave, making their already very expensive acquisitions worthless to the brand.

Re: General Gaming News

They could just hire up a new studio rather than close a bunch down. I did see some stuff around Tango Gameworks and that a lot of staff left to join Mikami's new studio and there weren't many people left at the studio. Theoretically yes, but that's just not how these things work now. I suspect at ...

Re: General TV News

Here we go then; The Boys Season 4, June 13th. As with every trailer for The Boys, it might be worth avoiding if you want to go in fresh as there's tons of probably brilliant surprises in there, but then they usually fill the season with so many of the things that it must be difficult choosing which...

Re: Celebs are still dropping off....

Ride now, ride now, ride! Ride for ruin and the world's ending!

One of my absolute favourite scenes in all of cinema, and a large part of that was Bernard Hill. His delivery is so powerful and convincing that you could absolutely believe that horde of men would follow him into the jaws of hell.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I also watched it last night. It's a good half-hour too long, and it doesn't really hold a candle to John Wick, either in choreography or world-building, but the last half hour or so is very enjoyable.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

I lost what had been my first pet last year. Despite not having seen her for two years (she belonged to my ex), it still hurt as much as losing any member of my family ever has. This is one of those things that people that don't own pets don't really comprehend; people can form bonds with animals th...
