Re: Film analysis
Yeah, I've got a dark brown leather jacket I use in the winter/early spring - although it's a thicker, more modern looking one compared to those old-fashioned leather jackets. I couldn't care less whether it's in fashion or not. Besides, it still looks a million times better than all those anoraks a...

Re: Xbox Game Pass for PC
Funny you should mention Rogue Trader, it was going cheap on CD Keys for less than a tenner so I picked it up last week (I don't have Game Pass since I barely play much these days).
It's one of the few modern games my old PC can run smoothly.
Enjoying what I've played of it so far.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)
I actually prefer the theatrical cut of Fellowship (which is still overwhelmingly the best individual film of the trilogy IMO). It flows much better and the added scenes don't really change anything narratively. TTT is a no-brainer though, the extended edition fixes a whole bunch of problems with th...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)
In terms of 90's Jim Carrey comedies, Dumb & Dumber is much better. Although Jeff Daniels is possibly the best part of that film, so it helps shift things away from Carrey for a change. Liar Liar, they had a handful of funny scenarios but struggled to build a decent film around them. Carrey just sta...

My brother's ex-police and he was always amazed at how many people didn't have a clue at how badly coke can potentially f*ck you up. A lot of people see it as the 'safe' hard drug or something.

Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
For me, I still vividly remember getting away from a firefight and hiding in some reeds near a lake, with just a few bullets left in my handgun. But I heard something. I turned around and there was nothing there, but then I noticed some small splashes in the water that were getting closer. It was on...

Re: Dragon Age 4: The Veilguard - out October 31st
I watched some video compilations of this. I can see why the game's sales have been apparently very disappointing, in general it looks so utterly different to what the series was all about. Shame, because by all accounts from a technical point of view they've made a really robust game at launch. So ...

Call of Pripyat was genuinely one of my all time top 5 PC games. Perfect marriage of immersive first person atmospheric shooter with a semi-open world approach which actually works, in unison with some emergent/AI enemy encounters. It was easily the best Stalker game. I fondly remember the old Preys...

Re: Aaand, In Other News...
Their first two albums are stonewall classics, and that's not just a fan thing, plenty of music critics/publications over the years have put those 2 records right up there with the best. They really were absolutely huge in the 90s, on the back of some great music. Noel had used up most of his best s...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)
Perhaps they should have chosen TV format instead, although Fallout has probably stolen its thunder in that area (vaults, wasteland setting, etc). Not sure about the timing either, Borderlands is a distant memory for many gamers now.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)
I'm seeing the odd comment from people online saying while it's not great it's actually quite fun overall. Rotten Tomatoes is at 10% but the user score is just over 50%, so it might be one of those situations where a massive critical pile-on is taking place. I mean, it probably is pretty bad though....

Re: Star Wars: Outlaws
Also, I think a lot of it is just how easy and straightforward it is these days to permeate an alt-view of stuff like this. It's low-hanging fruit in the social media sphere and they know it's going to get plenty of views - plus it requires little effort or planning from a creative point of view. I ...

Yeah it was an interesting curio back in the day. I bought it and had some fun with it, before it all got a bit frustrating. I probably only got about halfway through it.

Re: The Witcher - The Netflix Series
I did enjoy the first season, but only now after seeing the excellent Last of Us and Fallout shows, it has rather gone down in my estimation (when it comes to game adaptations). In hindsight, it was pretty patchy.

Just be thankful you didn't get rinsed! The amounts of money some people have liberally spaffed towards this project is eye-watering.
