Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Perhaps I should move to Yorkshire if it has its own dry climate. That would be bliss.

Re: Starfield has a release date

This looks bloody amazing. They finally got a decent engine it seems. Actual real time lighting!

I still have an i5 4570 though, although my GPU meets the requirements. I hardly play games any more but I'd be willing to dive into this I think, if my PC could handle low settings.

I think that's the problem in the UK, especially in south England. The humidity makes anything over 23C almost unbearable at times. If it was drier heat it wouldn't be a problem.

Plus our homes are mostly designed to trap and hold heat.

Re: General Gaming News

I'm still amazed they've never made a proper open-ended LotR game, where you get to control the Fellowship and determine which members leave along the journey and where they go. With multiple pathways to Mordor, etc. Different 'What if' scenarios and so on.

I'd be all over that.

Re: The Last Of Us

Yeah, I finished it last week and was massively impressed by it all. I struggled to fault it to be honest, I can't remember the last time that happened with a hyped TV show. Plus it was all wrapped up so well at the end (although I know the story does continue in the games). Everything, everybody's ...

Steam display megaBytes don't they? In which case, 8MBps was actually not bad.

I have 7MBps d/l on Steam (around 50-60 mbps Broadband connection). Serves my needs well enough, plus I cant get fibre here anyway.

Re: The Last Of Us

wow, I'm absolutely loving this show. Brilliantly written and the performances by the leads are great. I never played the games so I don't have any baggage or expectations whatsoever. It's no surprise to find Craig Mazin is responsible, although I believe the game writer also co-wrote some of the ep...

Re: General Gaming News

Yep, I just don't engage with modern internet outrage; it's nearly always overblown, exaggerated and/or sensationalist to get yourself noticed. Actually, stretch that to online political/social discourse in general. It's a neverending, tiresome conveyor belt of accusatory, bristling, tribalistic wai...

Re: Shifting OS to New SSD For Dummies?

Yeah, Samsung's Data Migration tool moved my whole drive across to the new SSD in about 10 minutes and was really easy to use.

I mean, surely this is just propaganda on China's part as a response?

Re: General TV News

Fawlty Towers was so fresh. Not just when it was released, but also on TV re-runs during the 80s. It was just simple, perfectly observed and is still mostly timeless (apart from one or two remarks from the Major which are usually cut these days). Also, a massive part of its brilliance was the physic...

There's the Cheltenham Festival (Gold Cup) in mid-March if your friend fancies a flutter. My brother lives there - the place does get a bit crowded around that time though.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I actually felt The Batman had a bunch of narrative issues and not enough story to stretch over the runtime. I was already starting to sigh heavily about 1h50mins into that when I knew there was over an hour still to go.

It seems to be the modern way of doing things though.
