Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

anniversary cards Christ, this is a pet peeve of mine. The celebration of an anniversary should be between the two people that the anniversary pertains to, and nobody else. My sister buys my parents anniversary cards for reasons unknown. I've made my feelings on the subject abundantly, conspicuousl...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

100% agree. I only buy cards for immediate family, and only because it’s easier than trying to explain to my mum why she’s the only one who places any value in them. I bought a birthday card for my sister last week and ended up getting a Star Wars card (despite her having no interest in Star Wars) b...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

So does he throw Kiev to the dogs so we have to eat chicken Putingrad or does he make a big show of bartering a large portion of Ukraine away to be the peacemaker with a pacemaker? Then does he let Israel go nuts or stop them from going after Iran since they’re Putin buddies? Ukraine is a stalemate...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

On the plus side, Trump said he'd release everything the US has on UFOs if he won, so maybe he'll meet an accident sooner rather than later...? I'm clinging to anything I can right now.

They deserve everything they get. The rest of the world doesn’t, though.

Fucking hell.

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

When I said "not very bright", I was alluding to an overall lack of critical thinking skills, of the ability to look outside of their own echo chamber to fact check the statements they're being fed. This isn't a problem that only affects the US, it certainly occurs in the UK too (albeit I think to ...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

But it's really difficult not to think that a sizeable chunk of Trump's voter base just aren't very bright. While I think that's evidently true, I place more blame on the extensive use of propaganda to outright lie to people. Kamala can't decide what race she is; the Democrats want to murder babies...

Re: Dragon Age 4: The Veilguard - out October 31st

Another video talking mainly about the writing - seems like fairly balanced criticism to me, overall he says the game is fine but the way dialogue is written (he doesn't get hung up on the actual content like a lot of people are doing) is starting to erode his will to continue I mostly agree with w...

Re: Dragon Age 4: The Veilguard - out October 31st

Yeah, I’m about 7 hours in, really enjoying it. The combat is a huge improvement over 2 and 3, getting you actually involved rather than just holding a button down, and there’s a much bigger focus on defence. Magic feels quite versatile in what you can do - looks like it will get quite tactical over...

Reminds me of that Blackadder Comic Relief special with Stephen Fry as King Charles.

"No it's not! It's a huge pumpkin with a ridiculous moustache drawn on!"

Re: Dragon Age 4: The Veilguard - out October 31st

I think the lighter tone is in and of itself a problem honestly, for me at least, and comparing it to Pixar or MCU dialogue (which I've seen in a few places as well) is kinda a big red flag for me. I guess I get why they were trying to go for a broader appeal here, but I think the end result is som...

Re: Dragon Age 4: The Veilguard - out October 31st

While it's not exactly great dialogue in the example scene, I don't agree with some of his criticisms, especially given that the scene is taken out of any context without any knowledge of the characters. The guy doesn't seem to be at all familiar with Dragon Age either, which doesn't help. I also th...

I think she’s para-narrating Bertie’s EG review: https://www.eurogamer.net/dragon-age-the-veilguard-review I tend to gel with his opinion more than anyone else at EG, so this is a huge box-tick for me. On the other hand, I also tend to agree with MrMatty’s opinions on lots of RPGs, and he doesn’t ap...

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

The dream vision that Corvus experienced: When Corvus rests, he receives a vision: the familiar scene of his own death, only this time a flame bursts from his chest. A woman in golden, radiant plate armour strides over, reaches down and rips his still beating, still burning heart from his chest and ...
