Re: Dragon Age 4: The Veilguard - out October 31st

Just realised I've never played as a Qunari, and now I'm hurtling dangerously close to a replay myself. Not sure how reactive the game would be to me RPing as a Qun zealot, but I remember playing as a surly dwarf and being impressed at how often the world was horrified that I'd been allowed to comma...

Re: Dragon Age 4: The Veilguard - out October 31st

If you didn't play the Trespasser DLC before... play Trespasser. Hard to believe it wasn't part of the base game, given how fundamentally important it is to everything in Dragon Age.

The Descent DLC may become important too, but I don't think will be quite as big a deal.

Re: Dragon Age 4: The Purpleguard - out October 31st

I saw Eurogamer comparing the game structure to Mass Effect 2, which to me is a very exciting prospect. It’s not actually that different in structure to Dragon Age: Origins, really. Honestly, I’m invested in the story of DA rather than the game side of it - the combat wasn’t great in 2 or 3 and I’m ...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

One thing I learned by him doing so is that you should never stick with one provider (like you, for simplicity's sake I'd just been insured by Barclays for over a decade), as they continually jack up the prices each year you stay with them, but switching to a new provider should give you a much che...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Home insurance. After 13 years of being with them, AA cocked up my renewal which finally gave me the impetus to go and find a better deal. Why is it that no matter how carefully you read a policy and check what's covered and what isn't, it always feels like you're going to get shafted in the event y...

The story has conveniently buried this corker of a gaffe from yesterday:

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

And it's happened again, though less dramatic this time. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c8dp10d4vq2t No blood-soaked, fist-pumping money shot - in fact it's not clear yet whether the suspect even fired, so I can't imagine this will give Trump as much of a boost as the last attempt did. Maybe it was...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Completely agreed, it’s a masterful film. The opening scene is one of my favourite starts to a film in recent memory, perfectly capturing the sheer danger and terror - and wonder - involved with space flight, that could only be met with professional calm.

Re: Elden Ring

Finally came back to the DLC and finished it, all bosses defeated - though sadly not before the final boss got nerfed. It’d be interesting to know how bad it was before, because it only took me three attempts (at scadutree blessing level 17), which surprised me. I had far more trouble with: Scadutre...

Watching the debate - it's popcorn viewing, with the highlight so far being: In Springfield, they're eating the dogs! They're eating the cats! The moderators also had to step in to clarify (in response to Trump, of course) that it's not legal in any state to 'abort' a baby after it's been born.

Re: Playstation & Sony News/Discussion

It was always going to be, surely? The standard PS5 console still carries an RRP of close to £500 as far as I'm aware (the digital version, which I guess is the better comparison point, is cheaper than that), and they were never going to put out a "pro" version for fifty quid more. I don't think th...

Re: Playstation & Sony News/Discussion

Plus £25 for a stand. It’ll be interesting to see how it compares in performance to similarly priced gaming PCs.

Re: Celebs are still dropping off....

The voice of Vader was his biggest role, of course, but I’ll always think of him as Thulsa Doom in Conan.

I shall contemplate this on the tree of woe. :(

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Vantage Point Decent action thriller about a presidential assassination attempt, mostly presented as 10 minute chunks of the incident from the perspectives of different characters. Gets a bit silly by the end and suffers from characters who seem determined to make the worst possible choices (e.g. a...
