Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I think the first film was driven by the characters and had real heart, while the sequel was driven by plot mechanics. I don't know, I'd argue that the second one has just as much heart and strong characterisation. Both Marty and Doc struggle with guilt over the consequences of their actions - Mart...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I know some people who claim that the second one is too confusing. I don't see the problem: After returning from 1955, they go to the future to help Marty's kid, but Biff goes back to 1955 to give himself the sports almanac which makes him rich, so when Marty and Doc go back to 1985 it's a dystopian...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Back to the Future trilogy This has just been released in 4k, so I gave it a binge over the weekend. The 4k transfer is good, especially in the third film as the vibrant outdoor scenes really come through sharp and vivid. It's another example of how 4k can give old films a new lease of life. There ...

after all, if it's bullshit it should be easy to disprove? That line of thinking is a quick road to disaster, not to mention the main reason for the burden of proof being on prosecution rather than defence. Proving something didn't happen is often impossible. And I understand that and agree, but no...

Re: Solasta: Crown of the Magister

I’m running it on a 2070 so I can’t say with any certainty how it would run on an old machine, but it uses the Unity engine which is generally pretty good on older hardware. It’s certainly not a looker, without being outright ugly. I’ve seen some people saying the UI is bland - I find it nicely func...

That caused a fountain of coffee to go over my keyboard.

My lot are fairly boring in looks, but my paladin does sound perpetually half-cut.

Re: Solasta: Crown of the Magister

Yep, I think spent the best part of an hour creating my party! Really enjoyed that, though. Hopefully there will be more cosmetic options in the full release.

Re: Solasta: Crown of the Magister

:)

I think you'll like it. It doesn't have the polish of BG3 but it absolutely has heart.

And painful exposition. But in an endearing way.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister

This is available on early access today, and I've taken the plunge since it's another RPG using licensed D&D 5E rules. First impressions after two hours are fantastic. It's a very different take to BG3 as your party is created from scratch rather than meeting predefined companions. What's interestin...
