This thread is going off in a slight tangent now but I'm now rewatching Buffy and Angel with my boy. There's a surprising amount of sex talk. He laughs everytime someone mentions orgies. Just sat through a wanking joke. And then Anya miming the sex sign (sort of the OK sign and pushing her finger through that hole :) )

Still enjoying it all though. We've already done Firefly and Serenity.

On another note - MM, my two, particularly my eldest is now obsessed with all things Beatles after watching the Yellow Submarine (which went up on Prime a week after I bought the DVD, naturally). They've watched it well over a dozen times since and we've spent hours watching their videos with her. She also seems to have developed a first slight crush on George Harrison, which it totes adorbz.

Ghostbusters still scares me to this day due to childhood trauma along with the Omen and Gremlins.

Predator sits atop the pile for me.
It's seen at that point for some time where I don't really need to watch it anymore.
Spoiler
Some damn fool said you're the best
Jim Hopper
You set us up
Over here
CHEST EXPLOSION
We hit nothing
Trap montage
He's using the trees
Get to the choppa
I see you
He's 'armless
Gone swimming
Mud
Trap montage
Ugly motherfucker
Boom
Got on the choppa
I god damn well love that film......
:D

But everything 80's through the 90's with guns, explosions and good times was my bread and butter growing up.
Aliens, the Crow, Terminator (and T2), Die Hard, Commando.....I'll even put Under Siege in there because the supporting cast are all pretty good in it.
And yet I get flak off the wife for never having watched Grease

That's allowed as Grease in 70's :) It's actually an OK film and knowing most of the songs it's quite fun.

Under Siege is also a film that if I see it on the telly I have to watch the rest of it no matter where it's got up to at that point.

It's funny, when I was younger I used to just watch till the nudey bit before switching off, whereas now I watch it for Tommy Lee Jones hamming it up and Seagal's impressive reluctance to ever change his expression while delivering lines. Priorities change.

I just don't watch it, as Gary Busey's face is intolerably weird.
Between tedium and fright
Such is the song of the nether world
The hissing of rats
And the jarring chants of angels

I feel like this thread has done the very thing that Maturin was warning about on the first page.

We need separate threads for 'favourite classics' and 'favourite trash you just love', because I love Under Siege too but I don't think I'd ever put it in this thread. -_-

Surely it comes under favourite films though because that doesn't necessarily imply quality, only that you like something.

Maybe something like Best Films would be better.

Or maybe it doesn't really matter as it's all about having a bit of banter, isn't it? :)

Under Siege does not belong in the same thread as Casablanca or A Matter Of Life and Death. ¬_¬

If it's someone's favourite it does :P

Don't make me nominate Dumb & Dumber. -_-

Maybe a Guilty Pleasures thread would be appropriate, stuff we know is dumb and kinda not great, but we love it anyway?

Should just do a thread for every film so it can be discussed in a nice little place of its own, and it'll make the forum look gloriously busy! ¬_¬

Not a bad idea. We could even start a little film group similar to the Lovecraft group. Pick a classic movie, find a way of watching it within a week or two, then all pile into a thread to discuss it.

I still have fond memories of when we all watched Robocop at the same time and posted throughout. Hard to synch schedules I guess, but I'd be up for something like that.

That was hilarious, I think Boomy was still with us at that point. And Wolfy was there too.

A prayer for those we left behind.

I didn't mean sync up and watch it at the same time though, I think that would be a little too ambitious given how busy people are nowadays. Just all saying we'll watch it before a deadline and then discussing it would be interesting enough.

I know mate, and I agree. Was a good laugh though.
