Big ol' chunk of Switch news dropped in the Direct last night.
-New Animal Crossing game coming next year. Isabelle is a new playable character in Smash Brothers.
-New Super Mario Brothers U is being ported.
-Luigi's Mansion 3.
-Diablo 3 is coming in November.
-Katamari Damacy remaster releasing by the end of the year.
-Cities Skyline is coming, err, last night. It's out now.
-The Switch online service comes with NES games, as already announced, but alongside them there will be wireless NES joypads that attach like joycons.
-And, the one I'm actually most excited about, Final Fantasy is coming to the Switch. There's an HD port of Crystal Chronicles, the slightly odd Gamecube game that back in the day needed 4 GBAs for 4 player co-op, but also ports of VII, IX, X and X-2 HD, and 12 HD. They're coming in 2019.
I've been holding off on buying FF9 on the off chance it'd be coming to Switch, and it looks like I'm finally getting my wish. I do hope they bring the entire series over; they've already got the NES games as part of the online service, they could surely add the NES Final Fantasies to that easily, although it's the SNES ones that I'm most interested in.
Edit: Forgot to mention Civ VI is coming to the console in November. I think it had been leaked a few days ago, but it may be news to some.

Really impressed with how diverse the software catalogue on the Switch is.
A few more bits I'd add, the Capcom Beat-em-up collection looks cool, although it's a shame Cadillac and Dinosaurs is not included. Also the boardgames coming to Switch are a really good fit.
Thought it was a really good Direct, much better than the one at E3.

Agreed a good showing from Nintendo. Still not enough to convince me to get a Switch, but still much better.

Also noticed some of the 'classic' Final Fantasy games coming to Switch and Xbox for that matter...

In my defence it was the roman numerals that threw me.
Quickly changing the subject. Apparently in order to guarentee access to the NES titles included with Switch Online you have to connect at least once a week. Seems a bit odd.

Seems a bit Nintendo. You're cloud saves will also delete as soon as your sub lapses.

Once a week seems pretty reasonable to me.
Deleting your cloud saves if your sub lapses does not.

It's more the other way around for me, but it's all moot anyway as I haven't even got a Switch.

If anyone is curious to see the performance of NES games on the Switch, the MLG guy's did a video on it.

You have 180 days after your Online subscription lapses to re-up before you cloud saves are erased...
If a Nintendo Switch Online membership expires, users won't be able to access their Save Data Cloud backups
However, Nintendo will allow users who resubscribe within 180 days to access their previous Save Data Cloud backups.
