I think I might be the only person on this place that never makes use of any of those features or the email notifications. I just go to the index every time and browse by the folders.

Same here. Apparently studies have shown that only the really cool people do it that way.

For some reason that link above says September, but it is actually 17th October.

Been playing this on and off and it's fair to say I'm absolutely toss at it. I realise it's half the point, but from starting the game I'm on a timer for one of my colonists going on an eating binge and arresting them, and it's a downward spiral from there.

I don't think it's necessarily complicated, but I am concerned I'll be filing it alongside EU IV under 'games too complex for my attention span', which is a shame as they both seem really rewarding.

Tommy, there is a mod you can download which lets you design your own colonists, which can help alleviate some of the early disasters (if not remove them completely, wouldn't be Rimworld if that were the case :D)

I still haven't actually played the v1.0 release... although tbf I'm only now coming up for air after two months playing Witcher 3 and Thronebreaker.

To be honest, I've been looking at some of the tips since I posted that and realised that my starting location probably wasn't great. The moaning (now executed) colonist I had in mind was old and it was a cold climate. I'm going to give it another shot later this evening and cherry pick colonists in a better area and see how I get on.

I think the thing I found most frustrating was he was the only person who could tailor anything of note but he was too busy pigging out to attend to his daily tasks of stopping the remaining colonists fucking freezing to death.

None of this is actual criticism of the game btw, for anyone who reads this and is considering it. It's great, I just hate snivelling little shits.

EDIT: Snivelling little shits, other than myself.

I would say to stick with Rimworld, it pays you back in spades for doing so.

It can also be fun to download a ton of mods and then use the god mode to set yourself up a cool base of operations and then play the game as an outpost, albeit a nicely geared one. The game will still challenge you.

Executing an elderly person for complaining that it's cold...

Don't be giving the Tories ideas...

If we had limited stockpiles of goods as the result of a calimituous situation, worsened by the weather, executing the elderly might be a solid idea.

Y'know, since this particular non-representative man was largely responsible for the calimituous situation.

Not to offer ideas.
