The Gamers Arms

Yeah another day with a not particularly inspiring prompt. Took it as a chance to practice a bit of rendering. Got bored with it towards the end though so the details in some areas are much better than others. Wasn't really sure where I was going with the engraved parts and it started to become a bit of a slog without much planning.

I'm going to put today's in spoiler tags, because to gaze upon it's majesty would drive mere human minds to madness, and I would not inflict such a fate without prior warning.

Missed party conference season by a couple of weeks, but you get the picture.

Day 17: Demon

Damn dude, that's incredible.

Cheers Chris. Probably the longest I've spent on one of these so far I think, was quite a time consuming one doing all the layers.

The figure looks digital but the background genuinely looks like paint. Amazing.

Almost embarrassed to post mine after that. I just ran out of time today. The idea might have been decent if it hadn't been so rushed.

I promise I came up with the idea before I realised I was possibly plagiarising Gronk and Waffles.

Genuinely, my thought process was thus;

The prompt is "Saddle." That's boring. What could I draw a saddle on? I don't want to draw a horse. What other animal can I draw that I haven't already used for a prompt this year? Dog! Why would you put a saddle on a dog? It has a very small rider! What small humanoid would ride a dog? Gnome! Gnomes are quite twee, what fun juxtaposition could I do? Gnomish Warhound!

I'm just glad I went with labrador and not a dachshund.

Haha, this is very close to my thought process when creating Gronk as well XD

Dead simple one today as I'm not expecting to have any time this evening.

Day 19: Plump


At least I'm retraining my brain that I don't need to spend hours on every drawing. Even the 10-15 minutes I spent on this feels like quite a long time considering the end result (Robins have a slightly odd head shape with a heavy brow, I couldn't get it looking right while sticking with the cartoony look I was aiming for).
